I have just finished listening to Dying To Be Me by Anita Moorjani. The book became really interesting from Chapter 18. The crux of the message is beautiful, calming, comforting and feels so right.
Listening to Anita’s Near Death Experience (NDE) gave me a glimpse into our context and what is on the other side. And that the other side is here now and we are in both places and times at once.
I hate to paraphrase but doing exactly that, so that I don’t forget the key messages, as I understand them.
We are love and universal energy, with no judgement.
There is no separation between you and me. If I care for myself, then I automatically care for everyone else. Loving myself and being true to myself means that everyone automatically feels my love. Each one of us is a gift to others, allowing us to express, and be, who we are.
We are all already magnificent. We are magnificence, choosing to be here, as we are everywhere at all times. Loving and appreciating our own magnificence brings us closer to realising and remembering who and what we already are.
Tolerating, accepting, and loving yourself first means you tolerate, accept and love others. There is no need to judge ourselves – any part of ourselves, or any part of others.
Compassion for myself, and accepting my negative thoughts, emotions and ‘’ego”, will allow me to be compassionate towards others. Even more compassion is needed for others and myself when we are consumed by fear, shame and anger; when we do harm to ourselves and others. We have little awareness of our own magnificence in that expression.
We are everything, and everyone, and everything is interconnected. The confines of belief systems, which judge as right and wrong, can confuse us and distance us from understanding and feeling how interconnected we are. We are all one. There is no one path to life energy. Increasing awareness does not need defending. In fact, this requires a suspension of all dogma, or absence of belief.
We are here to express our magnificence and to manifest the energy in the universe
Pure love expressed in this world is like a light through a prism. It refracts into all colours and not any colour is better than others. And the colours include everything from gratitude to hate. Love is energy.
The cosmos is alive, pulsating, and conscious and we are extension of, and part of, everything. We are co-creating this world through thoughts and feelings and actions. ‘Heaven’ is here and choosing to be here allows us to express love and passion. This is the main stage, and we are here to express the universe’s energy and creation, and ourselves within it.
There is no end game. Trusting that we are everything and at all places at once, and already magnificent, means we are not on a journey to anywhere. We can get closer to this truth while on this plane, or not. The closer we get the less angst and seriousness we feel.
We are here to have fun and express ourselves and our magnificence. Acceptance, and laughing at ourselves is the most important thing in this lifetime. Even more important than mediating or praying.
We will express ourselves fully – as the energy must go somewhere, through self-love and love for others, who are part of us. Alternatively, through physical or mental dis-ease, or harm to others. Nothing is right or wrong – it will be expressed.
Surrender, trust, and acceptance of death / the greater power we have access to means we can live with illness without rejection. Healing does not come from forgiveness, or from positive thinking, or from choice, or from a state of beliefs. Illness is not our fault. Healing modalities require an investment in a defence of those modalities, and our beliefs begin to own us. Modalities can be conflicting – Anita would rather stick to one which is supported by the community and does not see dis-ease as something to be eradicated.
Trust in the ride that is life. Acceptance that my understanding is incomplete which means a life with possibilities and no certainty. The acceptance of incomplete understanding is trusting in “chi” or love & energy beyond my understanding.
How do I hold onto the inter-connectedness Anita describes?
So, my sense is that Anita has lost all fear and trusts implicitly, as she has experienced first-hand (!) the light shone on the bigger picture. However, we are still walking around in the dark with flashlights, and the dark places cause fear and anxiety. I personally have experienced the deep depression of feeling untethered in the dark, where there is no light, with nothing to connect me and nothing to connect me with. Infinite nothingness, in which I alone unfortunately still exist. Which is the complete opposite to what Anita is describing.
I am not sure how I will stay in this new understanding and state I entered into while listening to Anita’s story, as by default its second hand. This come back to trust I suppose and returning again and again to the story. Still sounds like faith and religion to me. And what makes Anita’s guidance and insight different to others before her, with their own enlightened journeys?
All up, somehow most of what Anita interprets from her NDE sits well with me and speaks to my heart. I will trust in that for today.
